“If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend six sharpening my axe.”

- Abraham Lincoln

AutoCAD is the backbone of the architectural engineering and construction industry. ISC uses AutoCAD as a base platform due to the highly collaborative nature of the software and robust tools AutoCAD offers to integrate efficient designs. The ability to communicate design alternatives and efficiently collaborate with other members of the team is a must. AutoCAD has built several efficient platforms to achieve a high level of collaboration. ISC uses Buzzsaw and AutoCAD WS to share files, review drawings, red-line plans and have cloud based web meetings to review projects.

ISC has been a leader in the development and use of VisionREZ by ITW.  VisionREZ is part of the ITW Instinct Residential Design Suite of software products.  VisionREZ allows projects to be modeled efficiently in the 3D environment with many built in tools designed specifically  for the residential industry. ISC uses VisionREZ to accurately model all architectural aspects of the project prior to structural design.  VisionREZ is designed to integrate across several other ITW as well as other industry platforms to pass models from architectural to structural,  truss design and wall panel design software.

Floor and roof truss systems are a critical part of any wood framing job.  ISC uses Alpine truss software to integrate floor and roof truss systems into every project.  Having the engineer of record being responsible for the truss design eliminates the typical deferred submittal process and eliminates risks associated with the review, revise and re-submittal process.

Truss designs completed at structural design are accurate and ready for fabrication.  Deflection can be controlled to assure there are no differential deflection issues and all loads have been properly accommodated for.  By having control of truss design early in the process, collaboration and coordination with mechanical systems becomes possible.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) used to be limited to visualizing designs or estimating projects using formulaic properties extracted from the BIM models. hsbCAD brings another dimension to BIM…and it’s a big one!

hsbCAD links to the wood framing models to produce integrated wall panel shop drawings and act as the link for CAD/CAM manufacturing. Design the model, analyze components then export to automated saws and manufacturing equipment. hsbCAD integrates flawlessly with each and every other software component in the Instinct platform.
