Integrated Project Delivery
Integrated Project Delivery is a concept where, via BIM based technology, a seamless project team can be created effectively to work together and collaborate to help meet an owners goals. The key objectives are to align the interest of the key project team participants with the project mission, increase efficiency in all phases of the process, reduce waste and construct better projects.
The Main Points of ISC IPD:
- It is not “what you have been doing for the past 20 years”
- It does require a shift in the paradigm of We Win-You Lose to Win-Win
- There needs to be an owner/management commitment
- Requires an atmosphere where defensive posturing must be let go of
- Software integration and workflow development is crucial to the transition
- Design assistance and true collaboration is a must
- This is “Lean Construction”
- The status quo has huge costs and risks, change is needed
- There must be shared incentives
- IPD offers huge efficiency gains and less risk
